San Mateo County is one of 14 counties invited to take part in the 2018 pilot program for a new election system that will be available to all of California in 2020.
The scrapping of precinct polling places in favor of large voting centers and ballot drop boxes, mail-in ballots sent to every voter, and offering same-day registration are some of the changes in the works.
How secure will the new system be? What difficulties will it present for the disabled and for non-English speakers?
Susie Raye will explain it all for us and give us information about the upcoming public hearings where we can participate in the planning of the system, making our voices heard.
And SMC DFA’s busy task forces will update us on their latest meetings and activities.
